Hawai‘i’s future rests with its youth, who showed their vision and leadership at the first Ka Pewa Youth Summit in Maui Nui. Planned by Maui County high school students through The Maui Nui Hui, the summit united young voices and community leaders to collaborate, spark solutions, and take action. Its mission was to equip youth with the tools, connections, and influence to shape a future they can own—one that allows them to thrive at home while addressing outmigration, building skills, and driving long-term community impact.
The Ka Pewa Youth Summit was a powerful platform for youth empowerment in Maui Nui, inspiring students to see themselves as changemakers in their communities and future. Participants gained confidence in their voices, built stronger connections with peers and leaders, and embraced a shared responsibility to tackle challenges like outmigration and access to opportunities. The event also sparked collaboration among students, educators, and local leaders, setting the stage for a youth-driven roadmap to guide lasting impact. By placing young people at the center, the summit not only celebrated their vision but also created momentum for action that will continue to grow in the years ahead.
